About the Library

Welcome to the John Richard Allison Library!

The John Richard Allison Library is jointly owned by Regent College and Carey Theological College, and is one of the major theological libraries in western Canada. The Allison Library houses a growing collection of over 150,000 monographs, DVD, video and audiotapes, and over 450 periodical subscriptions. Several rare book and special collections are available for use only in the Allison Library.

The collection is searchable on an online catalogue, and the circulation system is also automated, providing efficient check out, renewals, and holds.  Several online databases are available by remote access to current Regent / Carey students, staff and faculty with a username and password. Several other online databases, as well as many print indexes, are available to be used in the Library. Other online databases, accessed through the University of British Columbia, are available to those Regent and Carey students who have paid fees for a current UBC card. Borrowing privileges at the Allison Library are extended to St. Mark's, UBC, and VST members.

The Allison Library staff are happy to help. Whether it's instructing individuals and groups in the use of Library resources, providing bibliographies in conjunction with Regent or Carey related events, or helping patrons find suitable resources on a specific topic, Library staff are knowledgeable and available. The Reference Desk is located to the right of the entrance and we welcome everyone to stop by, phone or email and ask for help.
