Library Information for Carey Students

The John Richard Allison Library houses the joint collections of Regent College and Carey Theological College. Carey Theological College maintains an updated student list at The John Richard Allison Library, the H. R. MacMillan Library at the Vancouver School of Theology (VST), and the University of British Columbia (UBC) Libraries. Students may obtain library cards at any of these libraries by showing proof of enrolment in a course. Carey’s Office of the Registrar has a list of your UBC Student numbers.

How to Get an Allison Library Card:

The John Richard Allison Library is located at Regent College (about a 10 minute walk from the Carey buildings at 5800 University Blvd.). All Carey students wishing to obtain an Allison Library card must do so at the Circulation Desk and fill out a form with information that will be entered into the library database. Students are to take a course registration invoice to the Circulation Desk to show proof of enrolment that you have paid for your course.

Using the Allison Library Databases:

Usernames and passwords are required to search the JRA databases outside of Regent College Current Carey students can obtain these passwords at the Library Circulation Desk or by contacting the Reference Librarian at the Allison Library at (Please provide your name and the program you are enrolled in.) If you are interested in accessing these databases at the Carey Centre alone, please contact Faith Knoll at for Username and Password information. She will direct you to the VST library website at

The UBC Libraries also provide many databases and electronic resources that may be useful to Carey students. A Campus Wide Login (CWL) is required to access the UBC databases, ebooks, and other materials that are password protected. All Carey students who use WebCT in their courses have a Campus Wide Login (CWL). If you are uncertain about your CWL, please contact Carey’s Office of the Registrar for assistance.
