Rare Books and Special Collections

The Allison Library has over 3,650 rare and antiquarian books, the majority of which were written by Puritan, Anglican, and early Evangelical authors, including John Bunyan and Jonathan Edwards. Click here to find out how the Rare Books Collection started, as well as details for each collection in the Rare Books Room. You can also book an appointment to view rare books.

The Puritan Project

The Puritan Project at the Allison Library exists to contribute to worldwide study of the seventeenth-century Puritans by providing early editions of primary sources read or written by the Puritans and modern secondary sources about the Puritans, as well as learning helps and opportunities - click here for our Puritan Research Guide. Moreover, the Puritan Project encourages study of the Puritans for the purpose of fostering personal communion with God that engages the whole person, thus reflecting the aim of study according to the Puritans as well as the donors of many of our rare Puritan books.
