The visual images in the ACT database represent the continuum of the practice of Christianity from the 1st century A.D. to the present. Many of the images are interpretations of Christian scripture: the Old Testament/Hebrew Bible, the New Testament, and the Apocrypha. Sarcophagi, mosaics, frescoes, manuscripts, sculpture, architecture, and paintings are searchable by keyword, scripture reference, iconographic content, personal name, time period, and geographic location.

The Index of Medieval Art is the largest database of Medieval art in existence, with records for works of art dating from early apostolic times to the end of the 16th century. The database also contains over images (copies of which may be printed for study purposes only).In addition, the database includes a bibliography covering iconography, art history, archaeology, religious, and classical studies. JSTOR Archival Collections Includes full text articles from more than 2,800 leading academic journals in the humanities, social sciences, and sciences. JSTOR archival and image collections can be accessed via JSTOR’s one search integrated platform, along with JSTOR eBooks.

The purpose of this collaborative project is to create a curated, visual exhibit of women in the history of Christianity, highlighting their leadership, ministry, and piety.
